Feeling overwhelmed?

May 28, 2014

Welcome to our brand new weekly email series. We’ll be sending fertility-boosting tips, recipes, stories of hope, and lots of other great information. Enjoy!

For those trying to conceive, sometimes stress can be an inherent part of that process. Whether it’s trying to perfect the timing of a little one, being unsure about what might be wrong, or following up with a specialist, these worries can all weigh heavily on your mind.

Stress & Conception

Studies show that stress is proven to have an effect on conception; it can lower the likelihood of fertilization, as your body isn’t able to put energy toward sustaining another life while energy is being drained by emotional stress. While you might not be able to entirely remove the stressors in your life, you can try to find ways to manage the issue.

Finding Peace Within

Meditation has been shown to reduce cortisol, the hormone that causes stress, while simultaneously increasing other internal chemicals that contribute to relaxing, resting, and feeling peaceful. Meditation can reduce stress both in the moment and, if regularly practiced, over the long term. Other results of meditation include learning to be more patient, understand yourself, and learn to let go of control.

Meditation can be a useful practice both when trying to conceive, to assuage fears of pregnancy or birth, and as a parent.

Have you and your partner been trying to conceive for over a year with no luck? Not knowing what’s going on with your body can also be a huge stressor.
