Keeping Your Heart Healthy for Baby
We’ve all heard of the classic symptom of heart attacks – sudden pain in your chest. But there are many other symptoms that can occur. Even though many of us think we are too young to experience a heart attack, heart disease affects women of all ages, even those who are active and appear healthy. If you’re trying to conceive a baby, you want to make sure your heart is as healthy as possible to keep you and your fetus supplied with the nutrients and oxygen you need.
Symptoms of Heart Attacks
Shortness of breath
Sweating too much
Vomiting or nausea
Pain in the jaw or back
A feeling similar to a strained muscle in the upper arms or chest
Prolonged fatigue
Discomfort in the chest
Unfortunately, many of these symptoms are also common for other ailments, such as anxiety or the flu. And sometimes we attribute them to being run-down from the busyness and stress of life.
The good news is that you can work to avoid heart disease and a heart attack, keeping your body strong for conception. Track your blood pressure and cholesterol, exercise regularly, and avoid smoking. If something doesn’t feel right, talk to a doctor.
