Eat Well for Your Heart and Uterus
Improving your diet can have an important effect on your heart health, as well as chances of conception. Many recipes can set you on your way to keeping both your heart and reproductive system in shape. The following recipe has bell peppers, rich in vitamin A, as well as chicken, a nice lean protein, and mushrooms, a great source of potassium and vitamin D.
Chicken with Bell Peppers and Mushrooms
2 chicken breasts
1 onion, sliced
½ lb. of mushrooms
3 bell peppers, mixed colors
2 Tbsp olive oil
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp paprika
1 tsp dry basil or 5 or 6 leaves of fresh basil, chopped
Cut chicken breast into strips about ½ inch thick and one or two inches long. Remove the top of the bell peppers and seeds from the center. Cut the bell peppers into strips about ¼ inch think by about one inch long. Cut onion into thin strips. Cut mushrooms into four-inch pieces. Put olive oil into a non-stick saucepan and heat on high for one minute. Add onion and chicken, and sprinkle with paprika and pepper. Stir and cook for two minutes. Lower heat to medium high. Add bell peppers, then stir and cook for five minutes. Add mushrooms and basil, stir, and adjust seasoning to taste. Cook another two minutes, then serve.
