When you are trying to conceive, it’s important to try not to stress month after month. Many women will choose a hobby to keep their mind occupied (and to use their Pinterest account for something other than searching for fertility tips).
Do you wish you were crafty, but all those photos on Pinterest seem out of reach? Or perhaps you don’t feel very crafty or have time to head to a craft store filled with aisles of objects you can’t identify? Well, this simple idea originally from Amy at thenshemade.com can cure your crafty blues, and is an adorable (and easy) gift to make for friends or family!
One pair of calf-length white tube socks
One pair of patterned girls’ socks
Rice, or beans, or lentils (for stuffing)
Orange and black felt
Cut the foot off of one tube sock – you’ll be using the shin part, not the foot part. Turn the tube part inside out and wrap one end very tightly with a rubber band. Then, fill the sock with rice (or beans, or lentils) and pack it down to make the chubby part of the body. Then when it’s full, rubber band the top tightly.
Next, grab one of your patterned socks. For the first sock, cut from before the heel completely off, and then cut the toe off. This will be the shirt your little snowman will wear. Then, take the other patterned sock and cut off the heel by itself, which will be your snowman’s hat.
Shimmy the shirt down over the body of your white tube sock. Use the twine to tie a bow around the top edge of the sock. Add another section of twine about halfway down, and tie them both tightly if you want to create snowman rolls. Or just leave one looser bow at the top.
Now, take the little heel you cut off, and add a small wrap of twine to the tip of it. Pull it down over your little snowman’s head! Next, cut tiny eyes out of black felt and a carrot nose out of orange felt, and hot glue them onto the little man’s face. If you’d like to add buttons to their little sweater, hot glue those on too!
Voila! An adorable tiny snowman to bring you cheer this holiday season!
