Is your heart healthy enough for a baby?
During our journey through infertility, we focus so much on our reproductive system and other influences such as emotional stress, nutrition, etc. But one of the most important parts of the body we somehow don’t bring up very often is also important: our hearts.
We know our hearts are hoping for and ready to love a little baby more than anything, and we need to make sure our hearts are physically ready as well.
So what’s the best way to make sure your heart is as healthy as it can be? The easy answer is aerobic exercise, which helps strengthen the heart, and there are tons of options to choose from. We can also keep our heart in good shape by eating well, decreasing the possibility of heart disease and strokes. Aim for more veggies and fewer saturated fats and high-sodium options. So maybe a little less bacon and microwave lunches, and more fresh fruits and steamed veggies.
Stats about Heart Disease
Because of more awareness than ever before, women’s deaths caused by heart disease have decreased by 30 percent.
One in three women die of heart disease and stroke every year. Not even breast cancer, the most common form of cancer aside from skin cancer, has that fatality rate.
Up to 80 percent of problems with the heart can be prevented with understanding and some lifestyle changes.
