A Workout for Your Soul?

A good workout can keep your body strong, and we definitely encourage you to make exercise a part of your daily life. But what about your soul? It’s just as important to focus on that, giving attention to your emotional needs. How do you keep that “in shape” and refreshed? We’ve got some ideas for you!

Keep Your Soul Healthy

  1. Take time for play. Let go of your to-do list and your responsibilities for a few hours, and head out to explore. Go for a hike, take good friends out on an adventure, or discover a new local restaurant.

  2. Take on art. While not everyone boasts being creative, you can find ways to relax your mind and create. Try a coloring book and some colored pencils, hit up a paint class in a local studio that takes you through it step by step, or try the Zentangle Method. You’ll find yourself relaxing and feeling better.

  3. Take the words. Do you have mantras or positive affirmation phrases you use? If not, you should. Using positive reinforcement to repeat phrases to yourself will help you believe and live like them. Try “I will be joyful today, or “I will embrace the sadness and the hope.”

  4. Take a breath. Breathe through whatever you face, whether a rush of grief, a conflict, or uncertainty. In every moment today, take a breath, to give you space to face your feelings.
