Happy Days Are Ahead

November 22, 2017

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.

If you’ve been wanting to have a family and people have told you you’re crazy, or that it’ll make your life hard or too much work, good news: studies say parents are generally happier than adults who don’t have kids.

According to a 2014 study of adults, in general, we aren’t as happy as we used to be. However, there’s one spot that bucks the trend: parents. Defined widely as biological parents, those who adopt, step-parents, and relatives who help take care of children, parents reported feeling happy at a steady rate, even during times of high stress (with toddlers or teenagers, for example). In the throes of threenagers its touch, but still with a deep sense of satisfaction for the blessing of your family.

Having kids, it turns out, helps us feel more connected and live in community in an increasingly isolated society. The financial stress of raising kids is not as bad as it used to be, with higher tax credits. More people are waiting until later in life to have kids, or having a child because they want to even outside of marriage, thus having children because they want to, not because of pressure to do so.

If you’re trying to have a little one, there are many possible treatments:

  • Intrauterine insemination: placing sperm directly into the uterus when ovulation occurs.

  • Hormonal treatments to balance your reproductive system.

  • In vitro fertilization: inducing ovulation, retrieving the egg, fertilizing and growing the embryo and then transferring it into the uterus.

  • Intracytoplasmic sperm injection: places sperm directly into the center of an egg.

If you want to build your family, there are many options and it can make your life more fulfilling. Even in the stressful times of having kiddos, you’ll be happy! Please schedule an appointment by calling 717-747-3099 or clicking on the button below.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bob Filer
