No Alarm Clock, No Problem
Allow yourself to rest. Your soul speaks to you in the quiet moments in between your thoughts.
And then, the alarm never went off.
This isn’t a story about being late for work, although that has happened sometimes too.😊 I’m talking instead about Saturdays. When you wake up, especially as a middle schooler, and you jerk awake because your alarm never went off. And then you realize: it’s glorious. It’s going to be a good morning. It’s Saturday! And by good morning, of course I mean a slept-during-most-of-it morning. And then you could eat whatever unhealthy items you wanted for breakfast (Captain Crunch, I’m coming for ya). And it just kept getting better. Sit on the couch. With your food. Turn on the TV and watch hilarious cartoons for hours. Wander into the kitchen for a snack whenever you felt hungry again. And after the good cartoons were over, the bliss of doing whatever you wanted! Go over to a friend’s house, go see a movie, read a book. What a great day.
Today’s Saturdays are not quite as quiet – usually there’s housework, errands, preparing for the coming week. I still try to take time to rest, relax, and do what I want to do instead of what is on the to-do list. That’s what Saturdays are for, right?
Even when you have so much going on, so much to prepare for, so much to stress over – try to take time to sit back and do what you enjoy. Saturdays are prime days, but it can be anytime, any day. What do you love to do but rarely make time for? A long hike? A good book cover-to-cover? A manicure? Do it. Do them all, ha! Make a promise to yourself that you’ll purposefully relax and enjoy yourself, even if you’re in the midst of intense stress.
Trying to have a baby can be more stressful than people might realize. If you’ve been feeling like it’ll never happen, working with a specialist can really change things. Please schedule an appointment by calling 717-747-3099 or clicking on the button below.
